How to choose padel booking software in East Africa
A club in Kampala, Nairobi or Dar es Salaam needs more than an attractive booking screen. Players must be able to pay, staff must handle changes, and the club must reconcile the money that actually arrives.
Start with the workflows you need, then compare platforms against the same demonstration. This guide covers Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. It is published by Rift Sports, a software provider included below. Public documentation was checked on 29 October 2026; vendor claims and listings are identified separately from transactions we have verified.
LOCAL REQUIREMENTS. A DIRECT CONVERSATION.
Why East African clubs should consider Rift Sports
Your booking platform should fit how your club operates. Rift brings regional payment-integration experience and a direct conversation with the software team to the selection process.
Payment options for your market
Build on our Tingg/Cellulant experience in Uganda and DPO development for Tanzania. We assess the provider, payment methods and onboarding needed for your venue before agreeing a setup.
Workflows around your venue
Bring your mix of reception bookings, online bookings, memberships and payment reconciliation. We work through how those requirements fit Rift’s available tools and configuration.
Direct access to the software team
Discuss setup and integration feasibility with the team building Rift. Agree what is available now, what needs additional work, and the scope, cost and timing before committing.
Payment availability is venue-specific. New integrations and custom development require feasibility review and a separate agreed scope; they are not automatically included.
Explore Rift’s club software ↗Build a shortlist around your club
Write down your country, number of courts, opening hours, membership rules and payment methods. Decide whether you need a player marketplace, your own booking destination, or both. A marketplace listing can help players discover a club, but a listing alone does not establish demand, payment availability or a completed booking.
| Platform | Regional evidence | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Playtomic | An established player marketplace, with public listings including Networks Padel Village and The Padel Point in Nairobi. [1] | Marketplace fit, plan features and the exact online payment methods enabled for your club. Its documented onsite custom payment methods should not be confused with an integrated mobile-money checkout. [2] |
| TPC Matchpoint | Padel Sports Africa in Dar es Salaam has an indexed booking portal and a published branded app. [3] | Branded booking, staff administration, payment-provider setup, exports and the terms of local support. The regional portal does not prove which payment rails are active. [4] |
| MATCHi | This review did not establish a current venue using MATCHi in Uganda, Kenya or Tanzania. | Confirm country onboarding first, then venue-specific payment options, membership requirements and fees. Absence of a verified local example does not establish that a service is unavailable. [5] |
| PadelMatch Kenya | The vendor names Dojo and Matteo’s in Nairobi and advertises M-Pesa payments direct to clubs. [6] | Ask to see the complete payment and reconciliation flow, staff-assisted bookings, refunds, exports and a written quote. These are vendor claims; we did not make a transaction. |
| Rift Sports | A player app and club-management platform with a regional implementation approach: discuss payment-provider fit, staff workflows and setup directly with Rift. App release notes document booking and memberships. [7] | Evaluate the paired player/manager workflow and the payment approach below. Agree configuration, onboarding and any additional integration work in writing; custom work is separately scoped. |
Compare the implementation, not just the feature list
| Decision | Rift’s approach | Playtomic’s documented position / buyer check |
|---|---|---|
| Integrated online payments | Tingg/Cellulant implementation experience; DPO development and sandbox testing. Confirm live methods for your venue. | Established integrated checkout; its October 5 list does not name M-Pesa, MTN MoMo or Airtel Money. [2] |
| Payments recorded at the club | Discuss reception-led payment recording and reconciliation alongside online booking. Confirm the configured workflow. | Custom onsite payment methods can be configured and marked paid manually. This is distinct from integrated collection. [2] |
| Regional provider integrations | Assess the country, merchant and required networks; see the payment approach below for Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. | Online methods depend on country and configuration. Confirm any requested local network directly. [2] |
| Staff-assisted operations | Review reception bookings, changes, membership rules and payment status against your staff’s daily tasks. | Evaluate Manager tools and onsite payment recording using the same staff scenarios. [2] |
| Configuration and onboarding | Discuss requirements directly with Rift and agree the available setup, training and launch scope. | Compare plan inclusions, configuration and onboarding support in the club’s quote. [2] |
| Custom integration feasibility | A direct technical discussion, followed by a feasibility decision and separate scope where needed—not unlimited development. | Ask whether the requested integration is available and on what terms; this review establishes no bespoke-development entitlement. |
Playtomic’s player network and established booking ecosystem may be valuable to your club. Rift deserves consideration when the decision also depends on local payment arrangements and direct collaboration on implementation. Other regional options, including PadelMatch Kenya, also advertise mobile-money capabilities; this is not an exclusive Rift claim.
Check mobile money country by country
“Supports mobile money” is not a complete answer. A gateway may document a network without that network being enabled in a particular club’s software. Likewise, a receptionist can record an external payment without the booking system receiving an automatic payment confirmation.
- Uganda: if your players need MTN MoMo or Airtel Money, request a demonstration of each required method in UGX.
- Kenya: if M-Pesa is essential, check the actual player payment journey in KES, the merchant account used and how staff match a payment to a booking.
- Tanzania: name the networks your players use and check each required method in TZS. Do not assume Kenyan M-Pesa support establishes Tanzanian availability.
For example, Tingg’s gateway documentation lists mobile-money options in all three countries. That is evidence about the gateway, not confirmation that every Rift club—or any other platform using it—has those options enabled. [8]
Request a written country-and-network list, collection currency, settlement currency, settlement schedule, merchant onboarding requirements and responsible support contact. Ask what happens when a payment is delayed, fails after a slot is held, or succeeds after the player closes the app.
Find the right payment setup for your club
Rift has documented Tingg/Cellulant integration experience in Uganda and is developing additional payment integration options for East African markets, including Tanzania. That experience gives us a practical starting point for assessing your club’s requirements.
Tell us which payment methods your players need and how your team currently records and reconciles payments. Together, we can assess provider suitability and integration feasibility, then confirm the club-specific methods, live availability, settlement arrangements and onboarding requirements before launch.
We will distinguish what is implemented and available for your venue, what is still in development and what cannot currently be offered. Additional integrations may require a separately agreed scope, cost and timeline. Provider coverage alone does not establish live availability in Rift.
Make staff-assisted booking part of the demo
Walk-ins, phone calls and WhatsApp enquiries should be part of your evaluation. Ask a staff member to create a booking, select an available court, identify the player and mark the correct payment status. Then check that the player-facing calendar reflects the change.
Repeat the exercise for a changed time, cancellation, member price and unpaid booking. Test who can override a price or cancel a booking. A list of staff accounts does not by itself prove that permissions are granular enough for your club.
For memberships, ask to see eligibility, expiry and booking benefits rather than only a membership purchase screen. If coaching or open matches matter, demonstrate capacity, participant changes and who collects the payment.
Compare the full cost, not just a monthly subscription
Request the same written cost breakdown from every shortlisted provider. Include setup, subscription, per-court or per-location charges, payment processing, player service fees, optional modules, training and taxes. An undisclosed charge belongs in a “to confirm” column, not a zero-cost column.
Use your own expected booking volume to compare a quiet month and a busy month. Ask who pays each charge, whether a player fee is visible before checkout, and whether fees are returned after cancellation. Check contract length, renewal, currency, price changes and the cost of leaving.
For payments, distinguish the booking record, payment confirmation and settlement into the club’s account. A refund request or credit balance is not necessarily a completed refund to the player’s original payment method.
Run one acceptance session before committing
- Book as a player. Use an approved test environment to select a court, see the complete price and complete the required payment flow.
- Find the same booking as staff. Check the court, time, player and payment status. Confirm how duplicate or delayed confirmations are handled.
- Change the booking. Move or cancel it and demonstrate the club’s actual cancellation and refund policy.
- Reconcile the day. Match bookings, unpaid balances, provider transactions, fees and settlement records.
- Export and recover. Request a sample export, explain who can access it, and agree the procedure for outages, staff access and moving providers.
Keep a simple acceptance record: demonstrated, documented but not demonstrated, unavailable, or awaiting confirmation. Agree which unresolved items must be settled before signing or taking player payments. Arrange any live payment test explicitly with the provider and venue.
Where Rift fits
Shortlist Rift if your club needs a practical conversation about how bookings, staff and local payments work together. A Kampala reception desk, a Nairobi membership club and a Dar es Salaam venue may need different setups. Rift’s approach is to evaluate those differences with you and turn the agreed requirements into a clear implementation scope.
Our padel booking and club-management software gives that conversation a concrete starting point: the player booking journey, the corresponding manager view and membership workflows. Our payment-integration experience adds a technical basis for assessing your preferred provider. The demo should establish what fits today and identify any configuration, training or separately scoped development needed.
Choose Rift when that direct working relationship and regional focus match your priorities. Agree payment readiness, fees, settlement, support responsibilities and any additional work before launch. If you are also developing a facility, our East African court budget guide covers the separate construction decision.
